Ruth Weinstein Paporisch
My works are a consequence of the course of my life, my memories and my feelings.
I was born and raised in Tel Aviv in a Zionist home which was also rich in knowledge and European and global culture. In the center is the character and work of my father, the geographer and educator Dr. Jehoiakim Paporisch. During my youth I was a member of the Scouts movement and later served in the Nahal and youth training and after my military service, literature and folklore studies at the university.
People and the fabric of life around them fascinate me and are a source of research, development and expression for me.
Memories of the past are integrated and affect the now and present around me. For me painting is a means and a goal to delve into and explore my physical and emotional environment influenced by my memories and the longing to return to them and give their optimistic and even naive content to contemporary reality.
I plan my paintings In view of the main idea / theme. But the work itself is nourished by an accidental situation and / or experience and / or a passing thought that evokes memories and feelings that erupt.
Nowadays my paintings are a continuation of my previous works and exhibitions dealing mainly with street life, with folkloristic figures and animals.
